Mark Bryan isn’t just a solo artist and member of Hootie and the Blowfish. He’s also an accomplished producer, and recently helped up-and-comers Tennis Courts as they put together their debut EP Best Regards. Window Sound’s Jack Story recently had a conversation with Mark and Tennis Courts’ Patrick Walsh about the experience, and the Q&A demonstrates how down-to-earth and forthcoming Mark is as a musician and friend to other musicians.

Everywhere today! The “urban junkyard" music of J Hacha De Zola is re-mastered and re-sequenced on his Greatest Hits, a 12-song collection culled from the four albums and various EPs De Zola has has released over the past five years. Embers Podcast has written that, with a “dark and swinging blend of jagged jazz, back alley blues and deliciously demented carnival stomp… Hacha De Zola might very well be one of the most important and singular artists making music today.”

The new set precedes De Zola’s upcoming album East Of Eden, slated for a June 11 release. De Zola discusses both records in the just-posted Episode 80 of Rag Bag Presents.

“Fans are in for a real treat” when they hear J Hacha De Zola’s new Greatest Hits compilation, according to Sound Vapors podcast host Tommy Marz (@tommymarzband). Marz recently featured Hacha De Zola, gushing that “every time he releases a new single or collection of songs I get excited because I know that I will be getting high quality sonics, clever lyrics and some of the swag that J seems to exude naturally.”

The new set - a remastered, exploratory 12-song collection culled from the four albums and various EPs that the eclectic “Urban Junkyard” artist has released over the past five years - is out tomorrow, Friday, April 2.

Atwood Magazine says Dev Marvelous’ new cover of The Bird and the Bee’s “La La La” is a “mesmerizing, colorful immersion of upbeat melodies and hot funk sounds” that finds Dev Marvelous “putting his own compelling spin on The Bird and the Bee’s original, first released on their self-titled debut album in 2007." The track is from the upcoming sixth edition of George’s Road Angel Project series of charity compilation releases in conjunction with Sweet Relief. This volume is entirely comprised of Dev’s covers of songs by The Bird and The Bee, and it’ll be streaming everywhere starting Friday, March 26. The full set is out on April 16!

Twangville has a personal Q&A with Mark Bryan, the Hootie and The Blowfish lead guitarist whose solo album Midlife Priceless is due April 2 from Slow Start Records. There are a few great stories here, going all the way back to the pre-Hootie days when Mark was writing songs while grounded as a teen.

Mark has released three singles from Midlife Priceless, and the fourth - called “Explain That To A Heart,” a cowrite with Wyatt Durette (the Zac Brown Band, Luke Combs) - comes on Friday.

A weird side effect of working with Mark Bryan of Hootie & The Blowfish is having to deal with pre-conceptions about Hootie. With that said, I want to express my incredible excitement about the new solo album Midlife Priceless that Mark will release next year. The first single "Wanna Feel Something" is streaming over at American Songwriter today along with an interview with Mark where he talks in his heartfelt way about how this song was inspired by being back out on the road again with his brothers. The guitar solo is bonkers awesome!
